Associate Professor of Dermatology and Pathology
My primary research interest is in the mechanism of Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy, a newly-described fibrosing disorder seen in patients with renal disease. I am assisting in identifying new cases of NFD, tracking these cases with personnel from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and examining the clinical, histopathological, and physiological features of this unusual disorder. In addition, I am interested in cutaneous lymphomas and alopecias, and the appropriate use of histopathology in diagnosing these disorders. My primary and preferred instructional tool is the networked computer. I have been involved with web-based pathology education for some time. My largest project is Pathmax, a web-based resource for pathology professionals currently accomodating 60,000 unique visitors per year from over 80 countries. In addition, ongoing web-based educational projects can be found on the Yale Dermatopathology Educational Links Site.
